oldman visited on 6th Oct 2019 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 4 Access: 5 The coordinates are more like 43.701293, 0.468710 on the Route de Cesar with views over a huge distance.

Nick- visited on 5th Jul 2016 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 4 Access: 5 5th July 2017. Easy access and nice views! Site in Midi:Gers (32) France.This ruin is a few minutes northwards along a lane from the main road (RN 124). Not that much left but some nice stonework!

Cette tour funéraire était dressée tout en haut du coteau, sur la ligne de crête, au bord de la voie romaine.La niche monumentale au sommet abritait une statue monumentale en l'honneur d'un défunt ou d'une famille prestigieuse, faite pour être vue de loin. And, more important :
they are not to be named Opidium or whatever.!
They are called " piles funéraires gallo-romaines" by thr scientists, ans "tourraques" by the local people, -from the occitan language, Other names also exist, as Peyrelongue, referring to the exceptional size of the construction.

First of all, thanks for the good photographies that were communicated.
I want to give some informations about those strange constructions you've come across ithe gersian landscape.
First of all, they're gallo-roman.
Second, they were build on funerary purposes, in honor of a man or a family. The y have or have had a niche to put a statue in.
Third, the average height was more than 10 meters
And finally, most of them have been used as quarries : there isn't so much stone in the area...
