oldman visited on 7th Apr 2019 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 3 This is our second visit to this site. Earlier in the year this time and much less undergrowth so we were able to see a second Menir in the wood and some other large stones which perhaps are the site of a burial.

oldman visited on 1st Sep 2018 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 5 Access: 3 It is right on the edge of a small wood surrounded by vines. You either have to approach through a vineyard from the North of the stone or along tracks from the South between vineyards. It is not a very big stone but it is covered on the wood side with sets of parallel lines. Rock Art?

A nice article from 1935 can be found in Persée, which mentions other smaller stones which may once have formed an alignment.

Menhir des Goulards
Menhir des Goulards submitted by oldman : Possible tomb? in the wood with the menhirs. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Menhir des Goulards
Menhir des Goulards submitted by oldman : This is the western side of the second stone which I posted last year. The picture that I uploaded last year does not seem to have displayed. The two stones are perhaps 50m apart, with the possible tomb halfway between. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Menhir des Goulards
Menhir des Goulards submitted by oldman : This is the side that has weathered the most. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Menhir des Goulards
Menhir des Goulards submitted by oldman : This Menhir on the eastern side of the wood eluded us on our first visit to this site. This picture shows the north side from below. A track just to the east is so far below the level of the menhir that you cannot see the stone from the track. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Menhir des Goulards
Menhir des Goulards submitted by oldman : This is the side of the stone nearest the wood. Plenty of lines.
