An artificial mound, marked as a 'tumulus' on the IGN map.

It may possibly be a much eroded (on the sides) medieval castle mound with a flat area on top approximately 25 x 15 metres. The mound is about 'two and a half storeys high', sorry for the vagueness. There are rough brambly earthen stairs with a wooden railing providing access to the top.

The mound seems to be composed 100% of earth. Geologically this area is not known for any rocky outcrops.

Easy access to this site through vines, which are those used to make the 'St. Mont' wine. St-Go has a cave (winery) nearby.

Below this mound in the valley with the river Midour, there is supposed to be a small Romanesque bridge, which I could not find however. It is probably overgrown.

I found out last weekend from a person that lives nearby, that the steep sides were caused by people digging away at the banks, for the soil (for hundreds of years I assume?) This stopped when the site became a historic monument, in the middle of the last century.

My link to Geoportail seems to work, but not the one linking through the button above with the aeroplane on it!
