Origin of Sayacmarca is pre-Inca, but it was definitely an important point in Inca period as well. Irregular-shaped Tempe of the Sun is the major structure, however the site is referred to as a fortress as well. Canalization system providing Sayacmarca with water is still in perfect condition.
