The Anta dos Galvões is a megalithic tomb which retains a certain monumentality due to its main pillar. It's located in São Brás dos Matos in a place known as Mina do Bugalho and it's part of the Municipality of Alandroal. You can see a lot of direction signs by the road indicating the way to the Antas of Mina do Bugalho. There's another megalithic monument located near by (check out its neighbour Anta do Pão Mole). This monument is not yet classified or protected by law.
About the architecture
The remains of the chamber are composed of 5 schist pillars and the corridor has also 6 schist pillars. The main pillar in the head of the chamber should be referenced by its size (about 3 metres high) and the care that was taken in its straightening is phenomenal.
About the findings
A ceramic spoon was found in an old excavation at the site. This object was a common artifact in Chalcolithic housing contexts. It was also found one schist plaque. These objects can be seen in Lisbon National Archaeological Museum (MNA – Museu Nacional de Arqueologia).
Important reminder
Remember that you may have to cross over water to reach the place of the monument. Use rubber boots or any kind of comfortable waterproof footwear.

Aditional information:
- The entrance to the zone of the monuments may be blocked by fences, they were essentially made to demarcate the land and not allow the escape of livestock. Usually there are spaces in the fences within these demarcated areas where the access is possible. When entering in demarcated land never forget to close the access gate of the location, you need to be very aware because cattle can escape.
- There are no signs prohibiting us from entering so the access can be open but be careful when you explore every time you see this red plaques that alert you for the Hunting Zones. Remind yourself that usually hunters can only hunt at selected hunting days (Thursdays, Sundays and on public holidays).
