Catrinm visited on 24th Feb 2020 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 5 Access: 4 This cave is phenomenal and worth visiting. Quality of the paeliolithic to Neolithic rock art takes the breath away - from figurative to abstract ( or seemingly abstract) images. Some black lined combs which look like some form of counting. Tour is 10 e three times a day - ring ahead to book but we only had 10 in February. its better to experience the images when you get there but have posted postcard pics nonetheless.

Cueva de la Pileta
Village of Benaoján
As googlemaps doesnot show you the right way and the signs in Benaoján are faded in the sun: drive through the village to the end and take a left at the MH 8401. There is a large Parking and from the parking climb the stairs to buy your ticket.
In wintertime 3 guided tours a day, at 12.00 at 13.00 and at 16.00 o'clock.
An amazing experience to see a cave as it was 40.000 years ago. The private owner is still the same family! The guide knows a lot of the site and speaks English.

You have to climb a short but steep path to the entrance so you have to be in a good condition to visit this site. Certainly worth the visit though. Amazing rock art inside! Taking photographs is not allowed beyond the entrance of the cave.

The pictures in this cave are said to be 25,000 years old. There is a very moderate charge for admission and you may have to wait if it's lunch time. Not surprisingly photography is not permitted in the cave.
