The ancient pagan shrine of Tigh nam Bodach is located in Glen Cailliche (the Crooked Glen of the Stones), north of Loch Lyon. The shrine is made up of a modest stone structure that houses a family of three bell shaped water stones from the river bed of the Lyon.

"The house was the home of the Cailleach (Mother Goddess), the Bodach (old Man) and the smaller Nighean (the Daughter), while two smaller children remained inside the house. The Creator Goddess only lived in her house from May 1 to October 30, from Beltane to Halloween, the Celtic festivals that mark the beginning and end of summer." - Source: philipcoppens.com

At various times this site has been threatened by plans for a hydroelectric project but recent news seem to indicate the plans are on hold. This site should be protected. Currently the only protection is a group of local people who continue the ancient seasonal rituals.

Note: Listed as modern site as not prehistoric but certainly old and of folklore interest
