Standing Stone (Menhir) in South Lanarkshire

This now destroyed standing stone features on The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) and is described as "an immense stone or saxum ..... being deeply embedded in the middle of a good field .... it was believed .... that there was secreted a vast treasure" - see the TNA entry for Clarkston Farm, Dillarburn, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, which presumably explains why the stone was destroyed or removed.

TNA give us a brief archaeology and history together with local folklore and a list of references. No entry was found on Canmore for this intriguing stone.
