Cairn in Devon
Information about this cairn comes from the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entries for the Shilstone Common (DRE 1a) Cairn Circle and 'A Reappraisal of Tyler's The Stone Remains in Drewsteignton'. PDW tells us that: "(The) Site dismissed by R.H. Worth but probable cairn remains found during field excavations by Major F.C. Tyler in 1930".
Details about this site remain confused, but further details can be found at:
Pastscape Monument No 444094, and MDV7010 (Possible site of stone settings near Spinsters Rock) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, which tells us that in the 19th century stone rows and circles were recorded at this location, their records also refer to hut circles. "(The) Only signs remaining in the 1970s were a few recorded stones".
For more information about this dubious stone row, see the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for Spinster's Rock and Prehistoric Monuments of Dartmoor's entry for Spinster's Rock.
