An Iron Age hillfort consisting of three enclosures covering the area of 6.4 ha. Its outworks were never finished.

This hillfort is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Prestonbury Castle Fort.

The fort is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 445780, as MDV8439 (Prestonbury Castle Hillfort), and scheduled as Historic England List Entry No. 1003861 (Prestonbury Castle (hillfort)).
