Gosforth Holy Well
Gosforth Holy Well submitted by Antonine : It was traditional on certain festival days for wine to be poured into the well and the people encouraged to catch it through the spout. Photo taken in 2011. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Cumbria

The well was rediscovered in 1901 when the Old Chapel was excavated. The Chapel had been built over the sacred spring.
The well is presently covered and is said to be in good condition, with the water still running clear.
