Hi,
I think you have the wrong park, the pill box is in the corner of Clarks garden on the corner of Springwood Ave and Woolton Rd, the nearest pill box to camp hill was on the Island at the cross roads of Menlove Ave, Hillfoot Rd, Woolton Rd, Allerton Rd. and Vale Rd, opposit the Derby Arms pub on the centre reservations of Woolton Rd, and Hillfoot Rd,. where two airaid shelters.
I lived in Vale Rd, from 1933-1952. Worked at Bear Brand 1947-1968.

Tippo.
PS,
The last time I passed there quite
a while back the pill box was still there.

As a young boy I used to roam all over Woolton and one thing I've noticed gone missing is the sandstone seat
with the bronze plate honouring a local Doctor if my
memory serves me well. and the Beuatiful marble drinking fountain at the bottom of Church Road.
Tippo, born in No 6 Mill View, 1933.
to me as a youngster the most beuatiful place on earth
we had everything a kid could ask for it might be up market
in property but down in faciltiys for youngsters.
Dont let them destroy the swimming baths or the libuary.

Re: Camp Hill by Anonymous on Wednesday, 23 March 2005
I know this site very well indeed I was borne only a few miles away and as a boy spent many happy hours rolling down the slope in the summer and in the winter sledging down it The lower levels of Camp Hill used to be used as a football pitch. wether that still happens I dont know as I now live in North wales. At one time during WW2 a pill box was erected on the corner of the park (as it was known) manned by the Local Home Guard
