Hope Bowdler Hill submitted by TheWhiteRider : Bronze Age Cairn on Hope Bowdler Hill. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Cairn in Shropshire

The remains of a Bronze Age cairn sit between the two high points of Hope Bowdler Hill. There are fantastic views all round, but in particular of Caer Caradoc and The Long Mynd. The cairn, which I have always rather ignored, until spotting a reference to it on English Heritage Pastscape, appears collapsed or robbed out.

Hope Bowdler Hill is a strenuous climb, but the views are worth it. Follow the footpath NE to Willstone Hill. Here are The Battlestones (named for Caratacus' last stand?), a natural outcrop of volcanic rock. At the other end of Hope Bowdler Hill is The Gaer Stone (Gaer meaning Fort), another impressive outcropping.
