Woolsbarrow Hillfort submitted by TimPrevett : I like this spot. Having been here numerous times in my youth, the views, and wonderful smell of pine is nostalgic for me; and now it is interesting from my stoney fascination perspective. Grid ref SY893925. Parking nearby is easy, and a steady walk makes this fine for walking with a family. Our 5 and 3 year olds handled it fine, taking about 1 hr 15 at a very slow pace to do a circular route. The... Woolsbarrow
Woolsbarrow submitted by TimPrevett : I arrived in Wareham Forest after a night of heavy rain, which had cleared into a very chilly early morning; by the time I got to Woolsbarrow, the trees and grass were being warmed by the sun and water evaporating; amazing. It was as if the whole forest were breathing out, giving a wonderful ambience. (2 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

Re: Woolsbarrow by Anonymous on Tuesday, 08 September 2020
visited Sunday, 06/09/2020, nice quiet walk, not many people due to corona, nice view from the hill fort, shame that there was a fire last march, don't people realize that when you use a barbeque, and are then forced to leave it, the wood land catches, amazing how quickly it regenerates though, the trees are black though, halfway up the trunk.

We visited for the first time today, although fairly local I hadn't heard of it. Interesting place for the boys to scramble about and lovely views along the way.
Well worth a visit

Re: Woolsbarrow by Anonymous on Wednesday, 06 November 2013
Visited this spectacular location this week (November 2013). It is well worth the walk as the views from the top are extensive and the steepness of the embankments astonishing. We were staying at the Caravan Club's Hunter's Moon site which is about a 1 hour walk away, just follow the signposts for the Wareham Forest Way which passes right beside the Hill Fort.
