Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Northumberland

Meg's Well, Aydon.
Aydon Village is quite well kept and pretty, with some architectural interest, and Aydon Castle nearby. Meg's Well, though, is in a sorry state and quite neglected.
The well is in a corner of a field adjacent to the village road.

Meg's Well, Aydon
Meg's Well, Aydon submitted by Anne T : This is a view of Meg's Well from the road through the village, just below Aydon Cottage, adjacent to the footpath running towards Aydon Castle. The field appears to be private, and when we visited was full of livestock, so there's no direct access. I wouldn't have recognised the well without having already seen an image on the Megalithic Portal (so thank you!). There are no signposts to the wel... (Vote or comment on this photo)
