Standing Stone and possible Stone Row in Wiltshire
For more information about this site, see Pastscape monument no. 221989 (Long Stone), which tells us: "(there is a) possible prehistoric standing stone at Broome. It was described by Aubrey as being about 10ft high and part of an alignment. All were broken up during the late 19th or early 20th century."
Update October 2019: The Stone Rows of Great Britain includes an entry for Broome, this now destroyed single stone row, last recorded by John Aubrey in the 17th century. SRoGB notes: "(this site) is said to have consisted of a tall stone measuring more than 3m high from which extended a line of smaller stones. The row was destroyed in the 19th century but the field in which it stood is known as Longstones … we cannot be certain that this monument was a stone row. There is however a strong possibility that this was the site of a stone row".
