Hillfort in Berkshire

Borough Hill is the smallest Iron Age hillfort in Berkshire, covering area of just 1 acre. It was discovered in 1962. The earthwork is in poor condition, however the ramparts are still distinguishable in the Southern part of the site. Northern part of the hill suffered heavy damage from the rabbit holes.

To reach Borough Hill you have to turn left towards Winterbourne on Winterbourne Turn, and in the Southern part of the village turn right (signpost to Boxford). After passing a small wood turn right after the second house on the right - the public footpath leads straight to the hillfort.
