Barrow Cemetery in Hampshire

Two Neolithic long barrows and a Bronze Age bowl barrow just surviving in South Wonston.

South Wonston East (SU474361) is a long barrow 110m long, 24m wide and up to 1.6 metres high; it is situated in private gardens and fields. South Wonston West (SU472360) is a long barrow 97m long and tapers from 20m wide at its NE end to 10m at its SE end; it is also situated in private gardens and bisected by a road. The bowl barrow is 24m in diameter and under half a metre high.

The most interesting find at these sites was a greenstone adze originating from Great Langdale in Cumbria.

Long Barrow in corner of West Hill Road North and Goldfinch Way is now a village green with a public interpretation-board.
Access 5 but Ambience 2. Unimpressive and overgrown. Surrounded by 1970s-style suburban housing.
