St. Chad's Well (Bedhampton)
St. Chad's Well (Bedhampton) submitted by DavidCWoods : There appear to be three capped off well heads in a fenced off (and locked) enclosure. The local authority was clearly interested enough to name the road after the site - a notice explaining its significance would have been nice. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Hampshire

As frequently happens, it took me a couple of attempts to find this site - despite it being situated in a road called Chadwell Meadow - a fact I managed to miss on the first visit. It is to be found by taking the first right turn from the B2149 Bedhampton Road after the Golden Lion pub, assuming you are approaching from the direction of the A3.

The well(s) are capped, in similar fashion to the nearby Bidbury Springs, and are situated between a residential road in a modern housing estate and the railway.

The well used to be known for its health giving virtues.
