This is a bizarre place!

My friend and I took the wrong path and came across a defensive tower on a rocky outcrop. It had arrow shooting slots on three sides. To the side of it was a stone that talked of Anne de Montenay and dated 1626. It seemed to have ditches to the North, big ditches. What were they in defence of?

We backtracked and this time took the lower path. There was the dolmen and to the North was the tower forty feet plus above.

And yes there were no signs which was a surprise as it's a communal forest.

The dolmen just didn't look right?? I'm not entirely convinced.
It was marked on the IGN map as such.

But we happened to park next to an orchard just to the East. And there was a strange dual alignment of small stones. It's visible on the google satellite image. I'll let you make your own minds up......

I think I know what the big ditches are. Most likely collapsed iron works. There was a lot of mining in the area up until 1989.
