Pole Hill
Pole Hill submitted by Thorgrim : Pole Hill is high for Essex - 300ft! The hill and its neighbours were made from the terminal morraines of the last glaciation and mark the most southerly limit of the ice. Palaeolithic and Mesolithic man lived in the Lea Valley below. The obelisk marks the Greenwich Meridian - almost! It was just 19ft out. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Modern Stone in Greater London

A modern stone, but a very interesting one. It marks the Greenwich Meridian - almost. It was placed 19ft too far to the west!

I totally agree with you it's a shame, and all we can do is sit and watch it all disappear like you say it's all about money. Friday Hill House belonged to the council, I thought it belonged to The Chingford Community?
