Holy Well or Sacred Spring in West Sussex

The "History and Antiquities of Horsham" by Dudley Howard (1836) says that the well was 30 yards from the outer moat of the Sidgwick (or Sedgwick) Castle. The castle ruins are shown on the 1:50000 OS map in the grounds of Sedgwick Park. When visited on 24th October 2004, local residents knew of no way in to Sedgwick Park and the North Gate was marked "Strictly Private", although there is reference on the web to a Sedgwick Park open day.

Likely georeference error. The well is probably the one shown just north of Sedgwick Castle on the Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 scale (in Get-a-map). That is consistent with the posting of 27 July 20007.

Re: The Nun's Well by Anonymous on Friday, 27 July 2007
I successfully located the Nun's Well today. It is indeed on the far side of the castle remains, very near a small 1929 brick "bus shelter"-type outhouse, beside a small pond

There are steps leading down to it. The stone cover is not fully on, allowing you to try the water inside
