Barrow Cemetery in Berkshire

From SolarMegalith: Barrow cemetery of Holden's Firs is located in western part of Mortimer village. It's main part are two large Bronze Age bell barrows. North from them there are heavily damaged remains of a bowl barrow and small disc barrow. SE from the main part of the cemetery, between houses, there's one more well-preserved bowl barrow.

Holdens Firs is under attack and is currently being destroyed by youths on quads and motorbikes. Police do nothing and the land owners -Englefield Estate, still won't put up a new fence.
This site is in serious trouble so if anyone out there cares then try and do something to help, start by calling Englefield estate office.

Re: Mortimer Common by Anonymous on Tuesday, 08 October 2002
I live in mortimer and their are at least 6 'mounds' in the village. well worth a visit since they were cleared of woodland in the early 90's and are now surrounded by heath land. their are also some more in the nearby village of ufton nervet.
