Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Cambridgeshire. A nice surprise to see this ancient spring surviving surrounded by modern housing. The spring which gives the extremely boggy common its name arises at some force from the fairly modern stone structure which has steps down to access the water.

It once had a metal lions head through which the water passed but this has gone, so too has the cup! However, a peer inside suggests that there is a much older structure inside which is reminiscent of the Old Red Well at Knapwell not far distant. The water was said to be healing and clearly has an older origins. The roman road of Ickneid way passes not that far from the common.
