Cairn in Yorkshire (West)

The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) features a page for this now destroyed tumulus - see their entry for Mount Skip, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, an extract of which reads: "Up behind the old pub that was The Mount Skip, high on the ridge above Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd, overlooking the Calder Valley for many miles, was once — it would seem — a number of fine prehistoric remains, long since destroyed by the industrial advance of quarrying and such likes.  Amidst what seems to have been settlement remains and, perhaps, timber circles, an ancient grave was also known here."

Pastscape Monument No. 903292, which records: "'In May 1897 burials discovered at quarry when pieces of urn rolled down. Bones were found in a grave which was c. 6 feet long, 14-18 inches wide and c. 2 feet deep; it was aligned north-south and contained much charcoal...In the ends of the grave were about 6 inches of charred wood and bones mixed together at the bottom. Flints were also found and `the larger half of a small earthenware vessel'. The flints included a knife, 51 mm long, 23 mm wide and 7 mm thick: very worn'."

TNA quotes from the same essay, but intriguingly adds: "this was picked up by a man named Thos. Greenwood, of Shawcroft Hill (1906)."

Note: Does anyone have any historical information, drawings or images to add? Does anyone know the current location of any of the artefacts found in this grave?
