Follow this lane for c. 150 yards past new houses to a parking spot at the start of the John Muir/Croy Hill Path. After c. 250 yards go through a gate. Bear left to visit the remains of Antonine Wall then continue up the Croy Hill Path for c. 0.7 mile to reach Croy Hill Fort.

Stone Fort or Dun in North Lanarkshire

Croy Hill Fort is located on the Antonine Wall c. 0.5 mile NE of Croy in North Lanarkshire. It is one of 19 forts regularly spaced along the Roman defensive structure. Only low walls remain delineating the footprint of the fort. A useful information board includes a plan of Croy Hill Fort. The walls of the Headquarters are partially preserved as well as traces of a Granary and Bath-house. Canmore ID 45875 includes details of excavations and finds on Croy Hill Fort.
