Round Barrow(s) in Lincolnshire

From Pastscape: "Skeletons were found in the sand pit [on Toot Hill, Little Coates] soon after Johnson's visit in 1903, and "bones and earthenware" had been found at, or near,Toot Hill, a century previously.

".... it seems probable that the mound from which the village of Toothill gets its name, a little north-west of Grimsby, was also a Bronze Age barrow, although the pot found in it when the site was being dug for sand has been lost".

Toot Hill has now been completely dug out and partially levelled. Mr. Hannigan (Hon.Corr.) says the Urn is at Totnes, property of the Overbeck family.

"Toot Hill" - natural knoll surmounted by a possible barrow. A complete lower human jaw labelled "from Danish tumulus, Toot Hill, 1904", is in Grimsby Municipal Offices."
