Perthshire is one of Scotland's (and Britain's) largest counties, sitting land-locked in the centre of Scotland. Indeed, Perth, the main city in the county, is sometimes referred to as "The Perfect Centre." The geography of Perthshire varies widely from south to north - wide open tracts of fertile farmland in the south give way to the start of the Highlands in the north, with the foothills of the Cairngorms rising from the Highland boundary fault above Dunkeld.
