Daylight is switched off in the main image and switched on in the inset. The latter also shows the paths of the ecliptic and equator.
When daylight is switched off, Stellarium shows the Sun's position as "geometric". With daylight on, the position is "apparent", i.e. taking into account refraction. This makes the Sun appear approximately half a degree higher than the geometric value.
