It is a short walk but it isn't on a footpath, the nearest one of those is three fields away. Permission to see the stone can be attained from Henriw farm house to the north west of the menhir. Or you can , if you like your anonymity, approach from the south,but it involves a bridge-less river crossing. Fun.
The stone is almost eight feet tall and squarish in section, tapering to a point in one corner on the top, Stenness like.
In the field to the south is a low but discernible barrow. The surroundings are bucolic, with the sun shining Swallows swooping and Dragonflies flitting about, this was a darn good visit to a very good stone. |
