Contact them for permission to reproduce it. | | | Description | Pastscape says cist and retaining wall of mound, but it also looks like a large hut wall with hearth [it's hard to say without excavation], the OS maps [1:25 000 and 1:50 000 scales] say cairn circle and it's at SW356325, i don't think the fact that a lot of cairns look just like hut circles when their little stones have gone is coincidence, the cist's in the middle [as you can clearly see in this picture] are like the hearths of living sites, and the kerb is the same for some huts and lots of cairns, it's because of this i think the builders would have seen the cairn as a house for the dead, and at the end of the day the fact this site is on the hilltop probably points more to it been a cairn than a hut circle. |
