Description Rainsborough Camp is a hillfort constructed and first occupied by Iron Age tribes during the 6th century BC. During the 4th century BC the fort was attacked and burnt to the ground. It was not refortified and occupied again until the late 2nd century BC and then only briefly. The site was later occupied by a non-defensive settlement in Roman times during the 1st and 4th centuries AD. Since then the site has been used for farming. (This site is a scheduled monument - Reference number 29/017/0005.) - SP 526 349
