Description Several of the trees surrounding the well have coloured rags tied to them. The taller stone at the far side of the pool is carved and looks like church masonry.

I find it a severe loss and an incredible injustice to all. for those who are responsible for vandalizing.. ne' desecrating a treasure such as this.

I often feel that the vandalism and desecration of a well is even worse than that of a megalith. When you think about how precious clean, reliable well water was to our ancestors right up until the last century... When you think about how precious clean, disease free well water is to third world countries... Now, today's vandals just turn on a tap or open another can of lager and don't even know what a well is. Yet every farm, hamlet, village and town had to have access to clean water in order to exist.

A QUESTION. Is it possible that publicising the pictures here led to the discovery and theft of the 3 stone heads. Does anyone know if it happened before or after 3rd October 2004 when the pictures were posted. If it was after, there is food for thought here. Terry B.

Hi Terry. As I wrote in my comment under the main site page for the well, the heads were stolen about twelve months previous to the images being posted. Cheers, David Raven
