During daylight hours, the outer gate is open, so 'external' access is possible. All the photos I am posting from our visit in September 2012 were therefore 'external'.
There are several significant stones between the outer & inner gates, and the layout of the inner chambers can also be seen through the gates - perhaps not the rock art, but enough to justify a visit...
