Description

This is the view (NE? - I didn't have my compass with me) from Cairn 4 on Cox Tor's summit. Looking at Butler's plan, the pile of stones near the centre of photo might be Cairn 6 or 7..? I didn't go to investigate it.

I'm getting muddled here, the one in the centre of the photo with the bush beside it is the one I'd been calling Cairn 5. From this angle (above) what appears to be a cairn to centre left (with pointed stone), is this one:http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=93704&orderby=dateD, I think, looking south. (Unless that *was* Cairn 5, and its stones are dispersed! Butler was writing about them over 20 years ago.) In the appendix he gives dimensions: Cairn 5 = 17.0 x 0.8 m, and Cairn 6 = 10.0 x 0.7 m, so I wonder if this is Cairn 6: http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=93710&orderby=dateD. It would be in approx the right position.
