Many cattle scratch against this stone. English Heritage did an excellent job replacing this vandalised stone - they needed to!

(2012-08-24) | Many thanks, and totally unexpected votes! The "beasts" were actually very friendly, almost playful. They seemed to rub against the stone in succession, even two at a time. I took more images but because it was getting darkish and I used a slower speed, most came out with some blurring - this was the best of the lot. The image was taken with the camera on the tripod from the centre of the circle.
This image on Photobucket, shows how fascinated this "beast" was with my son poking his head out from behind the stone!
