| Posted Comments: janemcLeish (2009-06-13) | According to the gentleman living in the farmhouse, the stone is protected by his title deeds, the previous landowner having tried to remove it. We were intriqued by the lichen shapes and wondered if they had grown into markings on the face of the stone? We wondered if the stone had originally lain in a wooded area as there appeared to be fossilized tree rings at the base of the stone? We wondered if the bowl and leaf carvings at the top of the sundial were symbols of crop fertility? Truly remarkable. |
