Description Saxon cross shaft with later Norman carving. The design to the right has been completed, but the carving on the left is shallow and was never finished. Pre-Norman crosses are extremly rare in East Anglia. The cross on top of the shaft is modern.

Thanks to your site, and especially to Thorgrim's postings, I've learnt that there's a lot more accessible remains in Essex than I had thought - have been travelling to our company's outstation office at Horkesley for 5 years, and have been searching for something to make the trip more interseting.
