The alignments stretch across the countyside like a battleground of soldiers. The site is close to the sea and there is a theory that the statues were some sort of magical deterrent to invaders. |

(2004-09-03) | Incredible! The megalithic world is such a strange place and we only see a fragment of it if we only focus on Britain - not that I'm knocking our fabulous megaliths. Looking forward to more European photographs coming on to the Portal. |
