That pristine cup-marked rock (top right in gallery) is 300m. away, behind a wall. Is that hill, on the horizon, natural or artificial ? It's called Proudy Hill and there's more cup-marked rocks a couple of miles behind it, at Kellah Burn. There is a small 'harvest hill' to the right of Proudy, at Eals, beside the river Tyne. The 6" OS has it as a 'motte' (& it's behind the telephone box). |
