This tree, growing wrapped around a beautifully rounded rock, was probably already fairly mature when the well and its surrounding walls were in good order.
What a shame they can't tell us where the well was, and who obliterated it.

(2012-04-20) | The tree seems to be protecting the stone with its roots curved around it like that.
Would it be worthwhile contacting the Parish Council or local vicar for more information about the well, there could be something in their records, village customs etc. Oh and the Ramblers Assoc are pretty hot on paths being blocked as should be the Footpaths Officer at the County Council. |
