Description Just a matter of a few feet from the main Barclodiad cairn, is this very large long prone stone. It is in alignment with the two main stones of Bwlch y Ddeufaen (visible here). One can not help wondering if it has some relationship with its neighbours.

I have just come across some folklore, which might add some weight to this stone's megalithic legitimacy. The same giants who dropped stones forming the nearby cairn, also dropped two large doorpost stones; one at Caeloch (can not find that on any map; Cae Coch perhaps?), the other at this location of this cairn - "The Place of The Flies"; could this be the same claimed stone?

I thought the 'place of the flies' was the circle further east along the track towards Cae Coch

I am going on information supplied from the nearby youth hostel which has a sign giving a bit more info on the nearby monuments. Two Giants, having come from S Wales looking for a promised land, spied Anglesey from the top of Tal y Fan, and in their excitement, dropped stones they had brought with them, forming Barclodiad-y-Gawres having come. Two large stones for doorposts dropped at 'Caeloch' (Cae Coch?) and at Lle-y-Pryfaid (that place became Barclodiad-y-Gawres. says the info). Cerrig Pryfaid, circle of the flies is about 15 mins walk east.

...oh forgot to mention... the Giants drowned in the Menai Straights, and their ghosts are alleged to be heard roaming around the Tal y Fan area at times.

Yes, it was Cerrig Pryfaid I was thinking of
