|Description ||Northern narrow site viewed from the NW. |
The North-South oriented chamber, measuring 12m by 3,3m (approx. 10m by 2m clear). It still is embedded into significant remains of the oval barrow. As it seems all orthostats are preserved, often in situ, but especially at the western long side only there tops are visible. At least 5 out of originally 7 capstones seem to be preserved, but are partly covered by earth and leaves. All remaining orthostats are slightly out of place, possibly a result of historic “examination”. I noticed ditches along the barrow, which might originate from removal of an enclosure (this type of chambers often has an enclosure in this area), but this can only be clarified by excavation I assume.
Visit remarks (2012): The site is in woodland and overgrown with brambles and small bushes. Hence it is best visible outside growing season. There are no signposts. It is few meters North of a forest track, which appeared to be not regularly used by the time of my visit.
