Very pretty Nicki, but doesn't remind me of Bay of Skaill where I stayed for a week in 2001... ;-)

To me it conjures up a swirling gale with sideways rain - it was February

It's obviously an abstract representation, rather than representational - I paint a lot of expressive abstract work as well as more traditional landscapes. This came from sketches, paintings and notes I made last February there (thank goodness, half in the shelter of the back of the car, otherwise it would have been impossible in gail winds and rain) and distilled those into abstract form, more about my feelings, the action of the sea and weather, taking elements and rearranging them than trying to replicate a view of the Bay. Oddly enough I had some positive comments on this from the sea swimming group who regularly swim there, so perhaps it captures the underwater view of the place better to some (though admittedly I've not taken a Winter dip there myself, or a summer one, or dipped my toes, I value my toes...).

Though not knowing the Bay of Skail, I think this is an excellent painting.
