This, the second seat, is actually two separate stone slabs, making a total of three seats said to be constructed from parts of the stone cists unearthed nearby. The further (westward) stone is at NJ 77834 19219.
Both "seats" have been engulfed by the bank in which they are placed and had to be dug out for this photograph. I scraped about 3" of soil from the near corner of each to reveal their surfaces. I also poked my stick under each to check these were not simply earthfast boulders, reaching more than 1.5m under the further (westward) one and about 1m under the nearer. |
