Description
"Skjerninghøj"
Well-preserved Round Barrow, 3.5 x 32.0 x 27.0 m.,
with no visible kerb stones.
In the mound an unusually well-preserved passage grave chamber
whose interior measures approx. 3 x 2 m, oriented NNE / SSW,
and set of 9 large carrying stones.. 1.5 m. high.
In all spaces between the upright stones seen
exceedingly well preserved drywalling.
Between the uprights upper ends and the two large slabs
seen unusually well intact supports and packings of larger
and smaller or flat stones.
Capstones are visible in barrows surface.
Passage (in S) consists of at least 4 original upright stones
in situ, covered with 2 probably original capstones plus
a third secondary.
The passage admittedly is somewhat narrow, but otherwise -
with the right equipment (sturdy clothes, flashlight) -
offering seamless access to the exceptionally beautiful chamber.

An unusually beautiful, seamless (apart from the corridor or S-straight addition)
and instructive example of a passage grave construction
and interior appearance of un-decomposed condition.
