|Description ||Captured in April 1984 using a Mamiya 645s camera - a bracket of four shots revealed this orange 'beam' of light on the third exposure.|
This is not lens flare, there was a large rubber lens-hood on the camera. The 4 frames were all shot at 125th sec, within one minute - I was using up the last shots on the roll!
as you can see from these two frames I had not moved between shots.
Light beam was of course not visible to the eye.
Geometry of the beam indicates it is part of a contracting circle of light that leaves an afterimage behind it ten time the width of the brightest part of it, the leading edge. The width of this leading edge is just about the same as the width of the grooves in the monolith - any ideas out there you guys?
