Sometimes called Rowberrow hiilfort, in side the palisade is a area of 8ha with perfect view's of the Mendip hill's in somerset. This Camp/fort has a long history from the Bronze age right up to the second world war when the home guard put a picket post on top of the hill that acted as a look out. Also the remains of a medieval rabbit warren and its field system are in side the camp.
What l liked was a few miles to the north west is another great Hillfort " Worlesbury camp '' in clear view and these two camp's do have something in common, that is they both have huge stone rampart in place's. Worlebury with its 93 storage pit's and over looking the Bristol channel it had to be used has trade " imports and exports ", were these two hillforts built by the same people ? being so close to each other and being of similar design?.
