(2005-02-13) | Perhaps it was a lamp?? Could it hold some kind of oil, or fat, and the wick (twisted sheeps wool?/whatever would burn) lay along the raised side while it was burning? (Bit of a wobbly base for that I guess!) Another wild guess! I know - a baby's feeding bottle! Remember those old banana shaped ones?! It's got a kind of pouring lip at the left end. Maybe something was mixed in it, then poured from the lip. The shape would possibly fit neatly into someone's hand? It's not half of a mould for something, is it? Surely someone in a museum would know the answer? | deidraelkins
(2005-05-12) | I think possibly that it could be the remains of an ancient water system. perhaps for a home or barn? if you place many of these end to end it would be an effective irrigation system for small scale purposes. |
(2005-12-08) | only looks more like a mortar, perhaps it was used for something special, and we will find out one day, i hope they takes some pollen etc from the place. I think it looks like either for grain, in wich case it has been used shorter then if had been used for soemthing else. say berrys, or roots, my guess is it has enn constructed and possible only evoved from a stone with an already similar shape.
However in different places in the world prefab stone age mortars been traded and produced. Its actually quitte amazing, this one looks much better then the usual ones i saw made or traded. Thats why i thibnk its made of a stone with alredi suitable shape.
