Just before sunrise, with the almost full moon about to set.
One of those mornings when you feel it is worth getting up early to catch nature's magic working in a magnificent setting.
This photo is looking across the north east rim, with the early morning mist beginning to catch the light from the rising sun.

To help make our short visit even more memorable....1 of the molehills inside the rampart had a pottery fragment sitting in it. Image how it felt to have something pushed up from the past, just sitting there to be seen so many centuries later...wonderful, and well worth the early alarm! | Runemage

(2011-10-17) | It reminds me my trip to Blewburton Hill hillfort and the nearby sites in February - I have reached the hillfort at about 9 am, everything was sinking in the morning mist. One of my best experiences while visiting prehistoric sites in England. |
